Brew tours are one of our favorite things to do on vacation, and Luray doesn’t disappoint in this category! There are so many amazing places to visit and check out unique recipes and brews within page county and beyond, it’s a perfect way to spend a rainy day or to enjoy the sunshine on a patio. Plus - don’t forget to take a six-pack back to Hillside House to enjoy either on the front porch watching the sunset or back home for a souvenir of a fantastic getaway.
Here are a few of our favorites that we love the check out and constantly recommend to our guests.
10 minutes from Hillside House
Hawksbill brewing company is in a great spot in downtown Luray, within walking distance to lots of cute shops and restaurants. Enjoy an afternoon window shopping and wrap up with a flight. The brewery is starting to have food trucks on the weekends in the summer, or order a pizza to deliver from Domino’s to enjoy on the picnic benches. Be sure to try Haymaker Cream Ale is one of our favorites!
29 minutes from Hillside House
Penn Druid is one of our absolute favorites in the area, with lots of amazing experimental beers on draft using natural fermentation process. It’s a simple setting, but with a stunning view and plenty or room to spread out. Plus, you can’t beat their wood fired pizza too!
27 minutes from Hillside House
Vibrissa, formerly Front Royal Brewing Company, is in a great spot in downtown Front Royal. The food is fantastic and the patio is a great place to enjoy a flight of unique brews and that beautiful Virginia spring weather. If coming to Luray from DC, this is a great place to stop at one the way down to Luray once you get off of the highway before heading down 340 south to Luray.
25 minutes from Hillside House
While you’re stopped at Vibrissa, head just a few minutes down the road and check out Saga Meadery & Cidery. It’s not a typical brewery, but their mead and ciders are truly unique and worth a stop! Their bourbon barrel aged crisp apple is delicious, grab a bottle and enjoy some on the front porch after a long day of exploring!
