Between Shenandoah National Park and George Washington Jefferson National Forest, there are lots of options for hitting the trail. Here are a few of our favorites:
Mary's Rock 3.1 miles, 780 ft. elevation

The North approach is shorter, but both lead to a stunning rocky outpost to take in the mountains
Kennedy Peak Loop 9.5 miles, 1624 ft. elevation

Can be challenging, but great view of the valley and a viewing tower at the end to see out

Luray Caverns is the largest cavern on the east coast and a must see if you are in the area! It's usually incredibly busy, so here are a few tips to make your visit easier
Buy tickets in advance
The line can get very long on the weekend, grab tickets online and you can skip it and go right to the caverns, no need to print it off, they will scan it from your phone
Bring a sweater
The caverns stay a nice 54 degrees no matter what time of year, so bring some layers in preparation
Plan for lunch at Heartpine
After exploring the caves, grab lunch at Heartpine Cafe, It's nothing very fancy, but they have a beautiful patio and serve beer and wine.
