New Luray Places We’re Excited to Explore in 2023
Luray always has and continues to be an amazing destination in Virginia. From Shenandoah National Park to the Luray Caverns, from the cute downtown to the stunning valley landscapes, it has a little something for everyone to enjoy.
Lately, Luray has been a complete buzz, with so many exciting things happening, new businesses coming in, and plenty of new spots that make a classic getaway destination feel brand new. Here are a few new places in Luray that we can’t wait to enjoy in 2023.
This stunning corner location in Luray has been disused since the Pandemic, and with the opening of Watch & Warrant it’s like someone brought fresh air to Luray. Not only did they do a stunning makeover inside & out, but the food & drink menu at this upscale casual American restaurant is something Luray desperately needed. I can only imagine the number of birthdays, date nights, and anniversaries that will be celebrated here. We’re looking forward to visiting soon!
On the farther end of town where things are a little quiet, a new business is shaking things up. Blue Shepherd Distillery recently opened in downtown Luray, and it’s industrial feel and amazing cocktails will make anyone want to stop in and sip. Named after their German Shepherd, this distillery is a great place that will be plenty of fun and host lots of memorable Saturday nights. Plus, there’s usually a food truck out front, so be sure to stop in after a long day of hiking to try a local cocktail and enjoy some tacos!
This adorable women’s clothing boutique opened up last year, but I’d say it’s still a relatively new spot in Luray and somewhere I definitely want to check out more! Most people think of this little town as an outdoor paradise, but let me tell you, downtown Luray is perfect for an afternoon of brunching, shopping, and relaxing! Hen House is a perfect example of that, filled with floral frocks and perfect patterns, it’s a great place to pick up some pieces to remind you of your trip!
Local classic Castle Vineyards has been one of our go-to recommendations for guests, but this year it's receiving a makeover! Now the tasting room for this vineyard has been moved to a brand new tasting barn, with plenty more seating, bar area and outdoor space. We can't wait to check out the new digs this year!
