New Market is a hidden gem just off of Highway 81 and near Luray, Virginia. We didn’t know much about this cute, sleepy town, but now that we’ve had some time to explore, we want everyone to do the same!
New Market is perfect for a weekend getaway, it’s right off the highway making it easy to get to, and only about an hour and forty five minutes from DC. Along the route too you can stop at other cute towns, little wineries, and plenty of hikes, making it a perfect road trip destination!
But once you get to this adorable tiny town, here are a few of our recommended things you should do!

Jackson’s Corner Coffee - Cute cafe serving up coffee, breakfast and lunch
Kathy’s Home Cooking - Just a few doors down! Perfect if you need a quick bite before exploring
Buttercup Market Place - Adorable women’s clothing boutique, I can never leave empty-handed!
John Henry General Store - Great local produce & anything else you might need
Simple Tymes - cute country home store with lots of vintage charm
Old Hill Cider - Adorable orchard and hard cider spot
Third Hill Winery - Beautiful Building and property
Wolfgap Vineyard & Winery - A local favorite
Muse (Woodstock) - A little bit farther but our personal favorite!
The Virginia Museum of the Civil War - A great place to learn about all of the history and sacrifice of the area

Play a round - Shenvalee Golf Course is just a few blocks away, beautiful views and a great course!
New Market Community Park - Such a cute community park always filled with pups and people! They have picnic pavilions, a pool, tennis courts, and a nice walking path. Perfect for getting a pup some exercise.
Explore Shenandoah National Park - Shenandoah is only about a 25-30 minute drive from New Market, perfect for still doing a day trip and exploring the park, check out some of our other blog posts about what to do in this national park gem!
